AHFA’s Early Learners Group is a comprehensive early intervention program that enhances children’s learning and development through group activities, systematic instruction, and structuring of the natural environment to promote learning opportunities. This group offers an individualized curricula based on evidence based practices in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and is designed to facilitate language development, play skills, and social learning opportunities. Throughout their day, children will have ample opportunities to play, explore new toys, participate in group activities, develop imitation and language skills, and socialize with peers. Children will benefit from a low adult child ratio, with much of the day including 1:1 facilitation of skills from a certified Registered Behavior Technician©.
Early intervention research indicates that parental involvement is key. For acceptance to this program, parents and/or caregivers must commit to monthly 1 hour trainings, completion of home assignments, and data collection. Attendance to training sessions can be fulfilled by parents or caregivers (to include but not limited to: babysitters, grandparents, or other relatives that may spend time with the child). An 80% attendance rate is required to continue participation in the program.
Age 3 to 5 years
At least three identifiable reinforcers (highly preferred items)
Will accept a reinforcer from another person
Ability to sit for at least 3 minutes with modifications (e.g. in a chair instead of on the floor)
Tracking item in 3 different positions (from at least 3 feet)
9:00am-10:30am, Circle Time and Group Games
During this time, we will focus on staying in a designated area with the group, moving with group, following 1-step instructions and routines within the context of the group, responding to group instructions, and joint attention through the context of familiar songs, rhymes, books, and group games.

10:30am-12:00pm, Natural Environment Teaching and Snack
This time will incorporate language development, play, and social behaviors and incidental teaching to increase communication and generalization. Snack time will be an opportunity to develop communication, language, and social behaviors, as well as work on adaptive skills such as feeding self, using utensils, cleaning up, and drinking out of a cup.

12:00-12:30, Lunch with Groups
12:30-2:00 One to One Sessions
This time will focus on acquiring new skills using Discrete Trial Training,
as well as focus on language and imitation training.

Monthly Parent Trainings
Trainings conducted by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst© or Masters Level professional will familiarize parents and caregivers with ABA methodologies (including Incidental Teaching, Pivotal Response Training, and Discrete Trial Training), as well as ABA principles, terminology, and simple data collection. Training dates and times are chosen by group consensus from either 8:00-9:00, 3:30-4:30, or 6:00-7:00. Childcare provided.
