After School Program
AHFA's After School Program offers clients the space and expertise to grow socially through peer interaction. Facilitated by ABA interventionists, the After School Program offers a small focused, controlled setting with a beneficial adult to child ratio, and supports functional communication, conversational skills, and attending to non-verbal social cues in daily interactions to replace problem behaviors. The After School Program uses multi media resources, conversations, and collaborative play and team activities to help clients develop their skills and bridge the gaps with social and behavioral deficits, allowing clients to utilize and generalize their skills in the home and school settings. Parent participation is a vital part of helping children learn through consistency of expectations and follow through across all settings, and parents are also given training and strategies to support their children in the home and community.
